Dogs On Deployment Military Pet of the Year

By Carla Olivo, PCSgrades Stategic Communications Director

Voting is underway for the 2017 Dogs On Deployment Military Pet of the Year contest!

Each year this national non-profit seeks to put the spotlight on military pet owners and their commitment to a healthy, engaged lifestyle with their dogs. Dogs on Deployment (DoD) provides a valuable network for the military. A service member can turn to DoD when searching for volunteers willing to board their four-legged friends during their service commitments.

Tough Decisions

It’s tough for active duty members to leave their pets behind when duty calls. DoD offers these pets the opportunity to have a backyard to play in and a family to snuggle with while their owners are away. Dogs on Deployment helps families find foster “parents” to care for their furpersons until the service member can reunite with their pet. It is such a better choice than a boarding facility or re-homing a pet!

Dogs on Deployment aids pets of all types belonging to active duty, reservists, guard, and honorably discharged veterans and their families. They’ve helped countless service members ensure that their beloved pets are taken care of during these necessary separations.

Voting is on!

DoD promotes life-long pet ownership in the military and veteran community and the 2017 Military Pet of the Year contest seeks to honor one special dog and their owner! Voting is open through February 19. The Dogs on Deployment Board of Trustees will then pick the winner from the top three finalists receiving the highest amounts of popular votes. The lucky winner will be announced on March 1st at 12 pm EST and will serve as the Dogs on Deployment’s Mascot for the next year.

So go to Dogs on Deployment where military members are proudly showing off their dogs and vote for your favorite!

Offering solutions to the unique issues faced by military and veteran families is at the core of PCSgrades. Likewise, Dogs on Deployment excels in helping to meet a unique need for military pet owners.

You can vote for your favorite furperson once a day! Voting closes on February 19th at 7 pm EST.
